Christmas Tree Recycling
Zebulon Public Works will be collecting live Christmas Trees during our normal yard waste collection after Christmas. Please place your tree on the right of way and do not forget to remove all decorations.
CURBSIDE YARDWASTE refers to vegetative matter resulting from landscaping maintenance including, but not limited to, twigs, limbs, hedge clippings, plant trimmings, hay, straw, pine straw, pine cones and shrubs. Limbs, hedge clippings, shrubs and tree trunks must be less than 14’ in length and less than 2’ in diameter. Pickup is limited to 20 cubic yards bi-weekly or 1 knuckleboom truck load. All yard waste should be placed on the right-of-way (free from ropes and cables) as far away from low overhead power lines, telephone poles, cable boxes and other utilities to ensure safety of the knuckleboom operator. This service is provided bi-weekly by Public Works staff to residential properties only.
Waste Industries will not empty trash receptacles that contain any yardwaste.
THE TOWN DOES NOT PICK UP GRASS CLIPPINGS!
Zebulon Yardwaste Recycling Center: Although public access is limited due to safety concerns, residents living inside the Zebulon town limits are welcome to dispose of most types of yard debris in the yardwaste recycling center. Because we do require an employee to be present with you, please call Public Works at 919/269-5285 during business hours to arrange for admission to the site.
LEAF COLLECTION During "leaf season" residents can rake loose leaves to the curb for bi-weekly collection. Leaf collection follows the same calendar and map as the yardwaste collection. Please ensure leaf piles are separated from all other yard waste. This service is provided by Public Works.
The Town of Zebulon has composters available for purchase. Composting allows decomposed materials to be reused as a nutritious supplement for your garden, lawn and house plants. Click here for complete details.
