The Town of Zebulon has been notified that it will be included on the North Carolina Local Government Commission’s (LGC) Fiscal Year 2025 Unit Assistance List.
The LGC recently announced that it is taking a more consistent approach to applying its Unit Assistance List criteria to local governments, regardless of size. Zebulon is among several larger local government units being added to the FY 2025 list.
The notification states that the determination is based on a review of the Town’s Fiscal Year 2025 audited financial statements and other information related to financial health and fiscal management practices. It does not specify which factors led to Zebulon’s inclusion on the list. The Town has reached out to the LGC for additional clarification and information.
The Town has already been working to strengthen its financial management practices and internal controls, and that work is continuing.
The LGC’s Coach Team is expected to work with the Town in the coming weeks to establish monitoring requirements, provide additional information and identify specific areas that may require attention. The Town will work closely with the LGC throughout the process and will continue to keep the community informed.
