ZEBULON, N.C. – The Zebulon Board of Commissioners participated in fiscal training Thursday evening, October 22, during a public, special called meeting. The training was presented by staff from the North Carolina Local Government Commission (LGC).
The training, Fiscal Training for Local Government Elected Officials, focused on the Board's financial oversight responsibilities under North Carolina's Local Government Budget and Fiscal Control Act. Topics included budgeting, financial reporting, internal controls, audits and fiscal accountability.
The session is part of the Town's ongoing work with LGC staff through the state's Unit Assistance List (UAL) process and its efforts to strengthen financial management practices, procedures and oversight.
Commissioners have biweekly individual meetings scheduled on Town Manager Catherine Crosby’s calendar to receive updates and ask questions, with additional opportunities for discussion during public Board meetings.
