Police officers assigned to the Patrol Division investigate motor vehicle accidents and enforce both state laws and Town ordinances. Patrol officers are the first responders to most calls for service within the town and are the most visible part of our department.
The Patrol Division is made up of four squads. These squads are comprised of a Sergeant and two officers. They are supplemented by a mid-shift officer and Special Operations during peak hours. Squads work twelve-hour shifts and collectively provide twenty-four-hour coverage to the citizens of Zebulon. Squads work on a modified Dupont schedule (work Monday & Tuesday, off Wednesday & Thursday, work Friday-Sunday, off Monday & Tuesday, work Wednesday & Thursday, off Friday-Sunday). Squads rotate between Days and Nights every twenty-eight days.
