Taiwo (Tai) is an energetic and forward-thinking executive with a solid track record of exceptional leadership, organizational operations, and management across public and private sectors. He advocates strongly for mobility, accessibility, and connectivity within urban environments.
Taiwo currently holds the position of National Transit Planning Director at Lochner Engineering. His public sector roles have included Director of Planning and Assistant City Manager in Charlotte, NC; City Manager/Chief Executive Officer in Greensboro, NC; and Interim Town Manager in Zebulon, NC. In Charlotte, he was responsible for the Planning, Transportation, and Transit Departments. In Greensboro, he managed a workforce of 3,300 and an annual budget of $750 million. In Zebulon, he guided the budget adoption process and provided support to both the Board and the leadership team. In the private sector, Taiwo has collaborated with top architecture and engineering firms, leading major projects throughout the Midwest and Southeastern US.
His portfolio showcases leadership in multi-million dollar, federally funded projects, including light rail (LRT), bus rapid transit (BRT), and streetcar/urban circulator programs throughout the United States, alongside comprehensive land use plans, transit master plans, corridor plans, and unified/land development codes.
He has directed key transit projects such as the Sacramento Blue Line Extension LRT, Sacramento Green Line to the Airport LRT, Michigan's Silver Line BRT, the Memphis Area Circulator, Winston-Salem Urban Circulator, Greensboro's Hopper Trolley, and the Columbus MAX BRT in Ohio, and has contributed to various Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives.
In 2019, Tai founded City Development Advisors LLC, providing strategic visioning, guidance, and support to entities and municipalities pursuing urban development projects.
Additionally, Tai is a renowned national speaker, a member of the National Steering Committee for the Housing Supply Accelerator—a collaborative initiative of the American Planning Association and the National League of Cities—and belongs to the International City/County Management Association, the American Planning Association, and the American Public Transportation Association. He is also a graduate of Leadership APTA, the ENO Center for Leadership in Transportation, and the MIT Sloan School of Management.
